CSP at Women Bikers Parade to Honour Jawan Wives

India's Republic Day celebrations in Bangalore began early at daybreak with over 100 women riders taking part in in a Biker's Parade organised by She For Society to honour Army Jawan wives. They were followed by vintage cars and open air gypsies.

The ride was flagged off by DCP Divya Sara Thomas. Army Jawan wives were presented with a cheque. Lt Col Bhavana Kasturi who became the first woman in the history of the Indian Army to lead an all male 144 strong contingent at the 2019 Republic Day Parade, was the Chief Guest. She had appreciated the Army for the opportunity adding that it was symbolic of the evolution and change taking place in the entire organisation - the acceptance of more and more women officers.

Fifty national and international skaters also participated in a single line under the aegis of the Bangalore District Skaters' Association.

Fifteen women Marshalls of the Karnataka Police also participated in the ride.

CSP author Hemalatha took part in the ride which began at Freedom Park and went upto Palace Ground, with the pillion riders waving the Tricolour.
